Classes
We have classes for different age groups, at varying skill levels.
Little Starfish – Baby and Toddler Classes:
We help babies splash and have fun safely in the water with mom or dad. We teach appropriate skills based on developmental milestones for each age group, including:
- safety,
- orientation,
- awareness,
- breath control, and
- early swimming skills
Age Groups:
- 8-12 month Baby splashers
- 12 -18 month Toddler splashers
- 18-24 month Toddler splashers
- 24 – 36 month Toddlers transitioning to Learn to Swim
Lesson Structure
The course is based on Developmental Milestones so all activities & skills are age appropriate. The classes are grouped according to age groups and swimming ability to ensure that all activities, social interactions and goals are at an age appropriate level.
Classes are divided into 3 terms, consisting of 8 or 9 lesson / term:
Little Starfish –
- Mom or dad are in the pool with baby
- Baby is in the water, splashing, playing games and learning
- Swimming skills are taught through routine and repetition of songs and fun activities (So bring your singing voices along!)
- Each lesson is progressive, gradually building up skills in order to move onto the next course and next swimming level.
- Each lesson is 30 min long

Little Starfish
In the initial courses babies will experience:
- Moving & splashing in the water
- The feeling of buoyancy
- Floating on their backs
- Going under water
- Confidence in a new environment
- Playing with other babies
- Developing land milestones in the water
- Having a lot of splashy fun!
These courses lay the foundations for acquiring the following skills by the age of 18 months:
- Floating on their backs
- Rolling over into a floating position
- How to return to the side if they ever fell into the pool
- How to climb in and out of the pool safely
- Breath control
- Building confidence in the water
Moms / Dads
Moms / Dads are in the pool with their infant and will learn some great skills too!
- Water safety
- Positioning and handling in the water
- Confidence in the pool with baby
- Lots of fun activities that can be carried over into the bath or pool at home
- Quality fun time with baby.
By creating a fun environment in which the babies know what to expect the best learning can take place.
